Within this collection of paintings you will first see a series of skies in which I departed from my usual style of painting and replaced brush with palette knife, allowing me to push and pull the paint to create textural surfaces and layers of nuance. Hints of these qualities can be seen in some earlier landscapes and architectural work. I enjoy the atmospheric qualities of the natural world, lines in architecture, and forms that build a still life. But it is portraits of people that is my first love. For me this genre enables me to create a narrative filled with emotion and mystery.
